Abstract
The aim of this paper is to analyze the deep internal
conflict present inside the Romanitas conceptual
core. Firstly, the research will study within the Roman
world the beginning of geopolitics, understood as an unceasing
fight against nature. In the second part, the meaning
of the enigmatic expression «invisible Rome» will be
considered. The conclusion will lead to the analysis of an
infinite (and happily unsolvable) contradiction which has
always confronted Rome with itself
