Desde el origen de la fotografía, la imagen mecánicamente reproductible ha
sido utilizada como medio de registro, vigilancia y represión. En este artículo revisaremos algunos
de los usos fotográficos de los dos últimos siglos deteniéndonos en tres casos de estudio
en los que la imagen fotográfica ha desempeñado un papel fundamental como herramienta
para la depuración de responsabilidades. Trazaremos un recorrido no lineal en el que pondremos
en relación los modos de producción de imágenes con los ámbitos discursivos e institucionales
en los que se inscriben para adquirir un paradójico valor de verdad Since the birth of photography, the image has been used as a medium of control,
vigilance and repression. In this paper we review some of the last two centuries photographical
uses focusing three cases where the photography has played a fundamental role as a tool
to purge responsibilities. We do a no-lineal survey relating the ways to produce images and the
institutional fields where they are inscribed to get a paradoxical value of truth
