Abstract
Title: A review of account of events: pregnancy and Fibromyalgia.
Objective: To know how does pregnancy affect to women suffering from Fibromyalgia.
Methodology: A review of account of events was given in the scientific international databases here detailed, PubMed, CINAHL and Cochrane Library and the national databases CUIDEN and SciELO, in addition to other sources such as Google Scholar and the nursing magazine CyL. To do so, it was established an inclusion and exclusion criteria and it used a common language and clearly stated one by Boolean operators.
Results: A whole of 16 articles were analysed besides the information coming from a book’s chapter. Three different sections of analysis were chosen: effects and symptoms which are produced by Fibromyalgia while pregnancy period, pharmacological treatment of the same illness and the professional nursing tasks in the process of the pregnancy time.
Conclusions: It is easily seen a deterioration of the Fibromyalgia symptoms while the pregnancy period, outstanding the third term as the worst one. It could be obtained lower indices of premature births, but higher amounts of gestacional mellitus diabetes, the fact of smoking, early torn membranes, recurrent abortions, suspicion of delay of intrauterine growth and polyhydramnios in the pregnant women with Fibromyalgia. It can be linked a relief of the Fibromyalgia symptoms during pregnancy, above all the pain, due to the action of relaxin and oxytocin hormones. The pharmacological treatment will interfere in the development of the gestation itself. At last, the nursing team has an important role in the care of the women suffering from Fibromyalgia during their gestation time, since this disease causes a decline of life quality.
