Abstract
Methodology: a narrative review was conducted using the databases Pubmed, Cuiden, Crochrane, Cinahl, Scielo and PsycInfo, searching for studies published between 2008 and 2018. Inclusive, exclusive criteria and limiters were established.
Results: a total of ten articles were analyzed, from which three main themes were obtained: 1) health care interventions for respiratory needs and other symptoms of the patient: treatment for dyspnoea and fatigue have been the most represented interventions; 2) interventions for psychosocial and spiritual care; 3) interventions for family care that show the need for a relationship between professionals, the patients and their families to improve family care.
Conclusions: the interventions destined to palliative care of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease are variable and encompass the biopsychosocial needs of the patient. Nursing professionals should work together with the rest of the professionals to provide a comprehensive care focused on palliative treatment.
