Abstract
realidad política de la China contemporánea The fall of the last imperial dynasty, the Qing, threw China into a turmoil
of revolutions, armed conflicts, and a social and ideological upheaval that
culminated in 1949 in the foundation of the People’s Republic. The second
half of the twentieth century would see a break with the traditional Confucian
values that went together with the rise of the Chinese Communist Party to power. However, over the recent decades, Confucianism has made an
unexpected comeback on the public stage, apparently to share the spotlight
with other established discourses of power legitimation. This has made the
underlying framework of the Chinese official propaganda and by extension of
the political reality a much more complex and tangled affair
