Entre el papel y la cámara, dos conceptos duales de la novelística unamuniana en la literatura y en el cine

Abstract

This present work is an approach to the identity challenge of Miguel de Unamuno’s characters within the transposal from a literary world to a filmic one. The article is focused on the source of the dualism (leitmotif) that has been used to create two of his novels and two film adaptations based in the literary works. In the first part, the tools and resources that appear in Niebla (1914) and in the adaptation made by José Jara are analysed in order to express the dualism “me and the other”. In the second part, both La tía Tula (1921) and the filmic adaptation made by Miguel Picazo are analysed within the dichotomy between “mother woman and virgin woman”. Therefore, we can assess the labour of one of the best known authors of world literature from two different perspectives that try to develop the same impact: show the fight of the opposites

Este trabajo aborda la transposición de la problemática identidad de los personajes de Miguel de Unamuno de una dimensión textual a otra fílmica. Más específicamente, se analiza el motivo de la dualidad en la construcción de dos de sus novelas y en dos de sus adaptaciones cinematográficas. Primero, se estudian las herramientas literarias de Niebla (1914) y los recursos fílmicos de una adaptación del director José Jara para expresar la dualidad yo-otro; luego, se analiza La tía Tula (1921) y la adaptación que hizo el director Miguel Picazo en torno al binomio mujer madre-mujer virgen. Así, podemos valorar la obra de uno de los autores más reconocidos de la literatura universal desde dos códigos distintos que buscan generar un mismo efecto: presentar una lucha de contrarios
