La diversidad en la enseñanza universitaria. Un reto por la creación visual desde la invidencia

Abstract

Cada vez con mayor frecuencia nos encontramos a estudiantes con discapacidad en las aulas universitarias. En estos casos, el educador debe asumir el reto de planificar y diseñar estrategias que den respuesta sobre qué y cómo enseñar con el fin de lograr su inclusión junto al resto de estudiantes. En este artículo presentamos la experiencia de una estudiante ciega en el aula de educación artística. La imagen es nuestro lenguaje y pretendemos deshacer esa aparente contradicción entre imagen e invidencia para poder entender que es posible la creación artística y visual en las personas ciegas. La experiencia nos remite a ese universo de representaciones internas del invidente que le hace capaz de generar otras nuevas imágenes. Lo visual se convierte así en un lenguaje con el que establecer puentes de comunicación entre los que ven y los que no.

Now more than ever we are finding in our university classrooms, students with disabilities. There are situations in which teachers must assume the challenge of planning and designing strategies to give some answers on what and how to teach in an accessible way to all students. In this article, we describe an experience of a blind student at the classroom of Art Education. Pictures are our language and we need to forget such an apparent contradiction between pictures and blindness in order to understand that the relationship between art creation and blind people is certainly possible. Just this is shown in the experience we describe, in which we see how blind people get access to the world of mental representations and they are able to create new images. Pictures become a bridge of communication between those who can and others who cannot see.
