Lisboa, circa 1717: Fernando de Casas y algunos modelos para la “yglesia del señor de Santiago de Galizia”

Abstract

En este trabajo se insiste en las relaciones o transferencias entre Lisboa, como lugar de encuentro, y los artistas gallegos que viajaron a Portugal, entre finales del siglo XVII y principios del XVIII, a fin de comprar materiales para las obras de la catedral de Santiago. Este fue el caso paradigmático de Fernando de Casas. En efecto, él viajó a Lisboa en la primavera de 1717, donde se dejó influir por la producción portuguesa de embutidos de mármoles polícromos y por los planes centrales o los polígonos alongados de las iglesias del Barroco lisboeta, presentes en proyectos de Luis Nunes Tinoco y João Antunes

In this paper it is emphasized the relationships and transfers between Lisbon as a place of encounter and the Galician artists travelling to Portugal. The purpose of these was to buy materials for the Works of the Cathedral of Santiago at the end of the 17th century and at the beginning of the 18th. This was certainly the case of Fernando de Casas. He was in Lisbon in the spring of 1717, where he assimilated the Portuguese production of marble inlays and the central-plan churches or the “polígonos alongados” Baroque churches in Lisbon, designed by Luís Nunes Tinoco and João Antunes
