Elementos de la civilización árabe en la Comunidad Valenciana

Abstract

Este artículo tiene como objetivo identificar el impacto de la cultura musulmana en la región de Valencia. Para la civilización musulmana la Península Ibérica fue una de las primeras pasarelas a Europa. La herencia dejada por la civilización musulmana está muchas veces difuminada, probablemente debido a su larga presencia en los hábitos, la vida cotidiana y en la mentalidad. La autora intenta señalar las diversas manifestaciones de la presencia árabe en lo que hoy es la Comunidad Valenciana, tanto materiales como intangibles. En Valencia la mayoría de los edificios de la época islámica no han sobrevivido hasta nuestros días. Sin embargo, se puede observar una gran cantidad de elementos intangibles de la cultura árabe conservados en muchos ámbitos de la vida: ritos, costumbres, idioma, agricultura, etc. En el texto se intenta identificar la herencia musulmana en los siguientes áreas: arquitectura y arte, agricultura, folclore, idioma. En el artículo no fue posible identificar todos los monumentos y vestigios de la cultura árabe en la región de Valencia. En el texto se omite aspectos tales como: la cerámica y la producción de papel en Xátiva, la cocina, la música y el canto

The aim of this paper is identification of the impact of muslim culture in the region of Valencia. For the muslim civilization, the Iberian Peninsula was one of the first gateways to Europe. The legacy of islamic civilization is often blurred, probably due to its long presence in the habits, daily life and mentality. The author tries to point out the various manifestations of the Arab presence in contemporaneous Valencia, both tangible and intangible. In present-day Valencia the most islamic buildings have not survived till today. However, we can observe a lot of intangible elements of arabic culture preserved in many areas of life: rituals, customs, language, agriculture, etc. The text attempts to identify the muslim heritage in the following areas: architecture and art, agriculture, folklore, language. It was not possible to identify all the monuments and vestiges of arab culture in the region of Valencia. This text does not include issues such as ceramics and paper production in Xativa, cuisine, music and songs
