Abstract
Background: The main cause of death not only in Spain but also all over the world is the
cardiorespiratory arrest. To fight against this fact is absolutely necessary that all citizens
know RCP techniques and the proper way to carry them out. The aim of this project is to
know the results obtained from different surveys related to RCP, which took place in
secondary and primary education.
Methods: Revision of references, searching for original articles from data bases
belonging to health science studies such as Pubmed, Cuiden, Scielo, CINAHL and
Cuidatge using thesaurus language, medical subject headlines and descriptions from
health science studies.
Results: 128 articles were found, and only 10 of these ones were on line with the study.
Of these 10 articles, 8 were original studies and the other 2 were bibliographic researches.
The object of most of these articles are initiatives and experiences in order to teach RCP
to primary and secondary school students. Their results highlight the teaching methods of
the RCP technics, the difficulties to implement them, the optimal age to start learning
them, and the new technologies used to reach their goals.
Conclusion: The whole of the population have to comply with the compulsory schooling
until the age of 16 years old. It makes the primary and secondary school students an ideal
group to teach the basics of RCP with the inclusion of these subject in the school. It is
required to teach the teachers, and it is highly recommended to start with this topic in the
primary school.
