Uba-Iner, “El-Que-Abre-la-Piedra”: El personaje y su nombre en la narrativa egipcia de ficción, con especial referencia al segundo relato del Papiro Westcar

El nombre es para los egipcios un elemento constitutivo de la naturaleza del individuo. En la narrativa de ficción, puede funcionar como caracterizador del personaje literario, ayudando a perfilar su imagen y actuación. En el segundo de los relatos contenidos en el Papiro Westcar, el “Cuento del Marido Engañado”, el protagonista, sacerdote-lector y mago, ostenta el nombre de Uba-Iner, “El-Que-Abre-la-Piedra”. Ofrecemos un estudio de este antropónimo, que puede llegar a relacionarse con la trama del cuento y con las acciones del protagonista

The name was for the Egyptians an essential part of the individual. In narrative fictional texts, we find it describing the literary character, helping to shape its image and performance. In the second story contained in the Westcar Papyrus, the “Tale of the Deceived Husband”, the protagonist, a priest-reader and magician, bears the name of Uba-Iner, “He-who-open-the-stone”. We offer an assessment of the meaning and use of this name, clearly related to the plot of the story and the actions of the main character of the tale
