Aportaciones de Paulo Freire para el desarrollo de una propuesta de educación intercultural: Un estudio de caso en la ESO

Abstract

Hemos desarrollado una investigación desde una perspectiva cualitativa y completada con un estudio de caso. En un primer momento realizamos un análisis de una parte seleccionada de la obra escrita de Paulo Freire y establecemos un marco teórico de referencia. En otro plano de análisis, y con la intención de identificar principales retos que la diversidad cultural incorpora al currículo de la ESO en Asturias, realizamos un estudio del mismo estableciendo conexiones con las aportaciones de Freire. Tomando como referencia tales aportaciones elaboramos una alternativa inicial de educación intercultural y estudiamos las posibilidades de aplicación en un IES asturiano. El estudio de caso pone de manifiesto que para desarrollar verdaderas propuestas de educación intercultural, sería necesario que existieran unas condiciones previas que tienen que ver con aspectos tales como: la existencia de una infraestructura organizativa en la que la vida diaria del Centro se interculturaliza, la necesidad de asumir el sentido educativo y social de la enseñanza secundaria y apostar por un modelo de currículo en el que tenga cabida la diversidad cultural. Todo ello, además, en un contexto en el que el alumnado tenga igualdad de oportunidades para desarrollarse desde un punto de vista social, cultural y educativo

We have developed a research from a qualitative perspective and completed with a case study. At first we have made an analysis of a selected portion of the written work of Freire and establish a theoretical framework. On another level of analysis, and intending to identify key challenges that having cultural diversity in the curriculum Asturian, we made a study of curriculum of Asturias. Given the contributions of Freire, we have prepared an initial alternative of intercultural education and we study the possibilities of application in an Asturian IES. The results obtained in our study make it clear that, despite the appropriateness of the present moment, the need for the development of this proposal and the fact that the educational community is willing to incorporate, it would be necessary that determined prior conditions should exist. These conditions have to do fundamentally with aspects such as: organizational infrastructure in the school where all academic life it becomes intercultural; understand the educational and social meaning of secondary education, the need to launch a curriculum in which, cultural diversity has its own place, and all of this, within a context where the students enjoy the same educational opportunities in order to grow from a social, cultural and educational
