Abstract
This paper develops the conception of social justice as parity of participation of
Nancy Fraser. The hypothesis is that there exists a fundamental relationship
between social justice and democracy in her theory, that has only been tangentially
addressed by the existing work in education. The paper develops this relationship
and places it in the domain of education with the intention of contributing to an
education for social justice that is also increasingly more democratic
