Cartografías del espacio, el tiempo y la memoria como morfología de una creación musical interdisciplinar

Abstract

Desde finales del siglo XIX la interacción entre diferentes territorios artísticos ha propiciado el desarrollo de campos interdisciplinares de gran importancia. En la actualidad estos territorios juegan un papel de primera magnitud en muchas corrientes de creación artística. Esta tesis doctoral supervisa muy distintos referentes, presupuestos y proyectos artísticos históricos de determinados autores desde principios del siglo XX. Objetos de análisis son el arte moderno, la Bauhaus, la danza, el teatro postdramático, la arquitectura, el jardín, la caligrafía árabe, la visión de otras culturas como principalmente la islámica, y autores del pensamiento de gran importancia en este trabajo como Walter Benjamin y Aby Warburg. Para esta investigación se han trazado varios campos de estudio en función de aspectos relacionados con la percepción, el espacio, el color, la sinestesia, la ornamentación, el movimiento, la forma y el tiempo de cara a individualizar facetas muy concretas en un territorio muy amplio y complejo que toca el teatro musical, la ópera, el arte sonoro, las instalaciones, etc. Los propios ejemplos compositivos del autor de este trabajo pretenden aportar a la investigación experiencias artísticas concretas y determinados cuestionamientos que se enfrentan a muchos de los aspectos anteriormente señalados. Entre las principales conclusiones se exponen perspectivas y proyectos especialmente novedosos sobre estos territorios artísticos que determinan la justificación de su conocimiento y estudio, y se aporta el trabajo paralelo e interdisciplinar final -como una investigación desde la propia creación- de la obra escénico musical ATLAS –Islas de utopía.

Since the end of the 19th century, the interaction among diverse artistic fields has emerged as a remarkable impulse in the development of prominent interdisciplinary domains. Such domains are currently vital to a considerable number of artistic trends. In my dissertation, I draw on various historic examples, discourses and artistic projects brought forth by certain authors and creators since the early 20th century. Modern art, the Bauhaus, dance, Postdramatic Theatre, architecture, the garden, Arabic calligraphy, perspectives and modes of representation produced within different cultural contexts, with a special focus on Islamic culture, as well as influential thinkers like Walter Benjamin and Aby Warburg are all at stake in my study. While exploring manifold areas of research, I have highlighted notions and motifs such as those of perception, space, colour, synesthesia, ornamentation, movement, shape and time in order to single out distinctive features within a broad, complex territory which pertains to music theatre, opera, sonorous art and installations, among other artistic fields. In my thesis, my own creative production as a composer provides both instances and artistic experiences by means of which I address most of the aforementioned issues and notions. The main arguments and conclusions I put forward shed light on the new views and the original projects which stem from these artistic territories and which are the outcome of their underlying ideas and discourses. As a research work within my own creative process, I hereby include the conclusive interdisciplinary production I composed parallel to writing my dissertation, namely my staged opera ATLAS – Islas de utopia [ATLAS – Islands of Utopia].

Seit Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts, hat die gegenseitige Beeinflussung verschiedener künstlerischer Bereiche, die Entwicklung wichtiger, interdisziplinärer Spielräume begünstigt. Heute spielen diese verschiedenen Bereiche eine Rolle ersten Ranges innerhalb zahlreicher Strömungen künstlerischen Schaffens. Diese Doktorarbeit untersucht äusserst verschiedene Vorbilder, Grundsätze und historische Kunstprojekte bestimmter Künstler seit Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts. Objekt unserer Analyse sind moderne Kunst, Bauhausstil, Tanz, postdramatisches Theater, Architektur, Gartenkunst, arabische Kaligraphie, unser Bild anderer Kulturen (vor allem der Islamischen) und für unsere Forschungsarbeit besonders wichtige Denker, wie Walter Benjamin und Aby Warburg. Zur Ausführung meiner Arbeit, habe ich mit Bezug auf Gesichtspunkte, die mit Wahrnehmung, Raum, Farbe, Synästhesie, Ornamentik, Bewegung, Form und Zeit in Verbindung stehen, verschiedene Untersuchungsfelder abgesteckt, um innerhalb eines sehr weiten und komplexen Bereiches, der Musiktheater, Oper, Tonkunst, Installationen usw. erfasst, konkrete Aspekte abzugrenzen und zu individualisieren. Die Beispiele musikalischer Kompositionen des Verfassers dieser Arbeit selbst, versuchen die Untersuchung durch konkrete künstlerische Erfahrungen und gewisse Fragestellungen zu bereichern, die viele dieser vorher genannten Aspekte betreffen. Unter den wichtigsten Schlussfolgerungen werden besonders innovative, diese künstlerischen Bereiche betreffende, Gesichtspunkte und Projekte vorgestellt, die ihre Kenntnis und Untersuchung rechtfertigen. Hinzu kommt am Ende ein interdisziplinäres, parallel zur Forschungsarbeit ausgeführtes Werk (als eine vom eigenen Schaffen ausgehende Recherche gedacht): das musikalische Bühnenstück ATLAS-Inseln der Utopie.
