Este trabajo pretende mostrar las relaciones entre literatura y retórica dentro del marco propuesto por la Retórica cultural. Para ello, se analiza la enseñanza de la Retórica durante la Inglaterra del período isabelino mostrando así su influencia en las obras de Shakespeare en general y en El mercader de Venecia en particular. Se propone el proceso de oratio in fabula The aim of this article is to show the relations between Literature and Culture within the framework proposed by Cultural Rhetoric. For doing it, the teaching of Rhetoric during the Elizabethan period is analysed, showing its influence in Shakespeare in general and in The Merchant of Venice in particular. The process of oratio in fabula is proposed
