La escuela al aire libre

Abstract

Artículo publicado inicialmente en la Revista de Pedagogía en 1929 por Rosa Sensat, directora de sección femenina de la Escuela Bosque creada en 1914 en Barcelona. El texto presenta una reflexión de Sensat acerca de la experiencia vivida en la Escuela Bosque. La autora destaca que la escuela tiene como particularidad el tener la naturaleza como medio, pero también que la acción educativa desempeñada en una escuela, sea cual fuere el medio, debe ser una actividad dirigida y aplicada. Concluye la autora la importancia del medio natural para promover el espíritu de observación y estudio, y reclama también la necesidad del aula como espacio para analizar y sistematizar la información recogida en el medio natural. Cierra esta reflexión realizando una fuerte apuesta por la educación espiritual frente a la instrucción, y por el respeto a los ritmos de aprendizaje de los infantes y a su felicidad presente. Article first published in 1929 in the journal Revista de Pedagogía by Rosa Sensat, principal of the female section of the Escuela Bosque founded in 1914 in Barcelona. The text shows Sensat’s reflection about her experience in the Escuela Bosque. The author highlights the school placement, in the natural environment, as a specific characteristic, but she also states that the educational activity carried out in a school, regardless of the environment, must be guided and applied. She concludes the importance of the natural environment for promoting the spirit of observation and study, and she claims for the need of understanding the classroom as a place for analysing and systematizing the information collected in the natural environment. She closes the reflection advocating for spiritual education, respect for students’ learning needs and their happiness. Teresa Rabazas Romero and Carlos Sanz Simón, researchers at the Museum of History of Education “Manuel Bartolomé Cossío” at the Complutense University of Madrid, have added to this reedition a brief contextualization
