Abstract
The aim of this article is to analyze some characteristics of Hegelian dialectics, trying to define its centrality in the process of thought and investigating its limits. To this end, I will propose a hypothesis that implies a parallel reading of the meaning of dialectics at some moments in Platonic philosophy (particularly around the "Unwritten Doctrines") and others in Hegel's philosophy, especially in the Science of Logic. This confrontation will allow us to draw a line of conjunction between both authors and to elucidate the chiasm between history, thought and dialectics.
