Abstract

Introduction: The pandemic poses a danger to all professional sectors, but the hardest hit is undoubtedly the healthcare sector. Their role has led them to provide care despite the high risk of contagion through contact with sick patients, exposing them to multiple psychological and emotional stress factors, as they are responsible for their patients' lives and their actions, or lack thereof, can have serious consequences. They are also concerned about the risk of infection to their families and environment, developing a feeling of guilt, stigmatisation and social rejection due to their proximity to the disease.
The health crisis has once again placed them as a key element for their containment, producing an important pressure marked by the efficiency of the training received.
The aim of this research project is to find out whether healthcare personnel received training in the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and whether this training was sufficiently effective to reduce the psychological and emotional impact among front-line professionals of the risk of contagion in their use. This was done through focus groups and cross-reporting to explore the experiences and feelings experienced during the pandemic in the use of this equipment, delving deeper into the emotional and psychological experiences in order to propose more effective interventions to the

institutions to ensure the safety of these professionals and to investigate the long-term consequences on their physical, psychological and emotional health.
Main Objective: To explore through the experiences of healthcare personnel whether the training received in the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) has had a psychological and emotional impact due to the perception of an increased risk of self-contagion in its use among healthcare personnel.
Methodology: qualitative study with a comprehensive-naturalistic-interpretative perspective, selecting two groups of healthcare professionals from the Medical Intensive Care Unit and the General Emergency Unit of the Hospital Universitario Puerta de Hierro Majadahonda. The data collection instrument used will be focus group interviews and cross-referenced accounts using audiovisual devices and verbatim transcription. Data analysis will be based on thematic analysis, fragmenting the text and integrating the different parts to understand the phenomenon, coding, grouping and producing a final report of the results.
Conclusions: will make it possible to analyse whether the training received by health professionals in the care of patients with highly infectious diseases is sufficient to enhance their safety and that of their environment, according to their vision, knowing their needs, experiences and opinion on whether this training has medium-term consequences on their psychological and emotional health.
