Abstract

Este trabajo expone cómo un mismo tópico, el personaje del hombre que ríe creado por Victor Hugo, sufre sucesivas transformaciones, no solo con arreglo al receptor sino al contexto cultural en el que se inscribe, respondiendo así a los presupuestos de la retórica cultural. Para ello acudimos a las diferentes teorías de la recepción que han surgido a lo largo del siglo XX, desde la estética de la recepción de Jauss hasta las teorías del lector modelo de Umberto Eco. Además, la teoría de los mundos posibles desarrollada por Tomás Albadalejo, así como la reformulación y ampliación de Javier Rodríguez Pequeño, nos ayuda a entender las convenciones de cada género y, por tanto, las permutaciones que experimenta nuestro texto

This work proves how the same theme, the character of the man who laughs created by Victor Hugo, undergoes successive transformations, not only according to the recipient but also to the cultural context in which it is inscribed, thus responding to the assumptions of cultural rhetoric. To do this, we resort to the different reception theories that emerged throughout the 20th century, from Jauss's aesthetic of reception to Umberto Eco's theories of the model reader. Additionally, the theory of possible worlds developed by Tomás Albadalejo along with the reformulation and expansion of Javier Rodríguez Pequeño help us understand the conventions of each genre and, therefore, the permutations that our text experiences
