El 7 de julio de 1822: la contrarrevolución en marcha

Abstract

El golpe de Estado fallido del 7 de julio de 1822, de origen absolutista, constituye el primer ataque frontal hacia el régimen constitucional español, instaurado en 1820. A raíz de este acontecimiento se remodela el Gobierno y se nombran en los Ministerios, por primera vez en el Trienio, liberales exaltados (Gobierno de Evaristo San Miguel). El objetivo de este trabajo es, en primer lugar, averiguar las circunstancias que llevaron al poder a exaltados, y observar su conducta con respecto al affaire del 7 de julio. Asimismo, en el contexto del constitucionalismo de la primera mitad del siglo XIX, se busca poner de relieve algunas prácticas parlamentarias en momentos de crisis aguda, a través del estudio del comportamiento del poder legislativo frente al ataque abierto de la contrarrevolución

The unsuccessful absolutist-based coup d’Etat on the 7th July, 1822, constitutes the first direct attack against the Spanish constitutional system, established in 1820. As a direct result of this event a new government is established and, for the first time in the Liberal Triennium, the liberals are put in charge of it (the government of Evaristo San Miguel). The main objective of this work is mostly to ascertain the circumstances that brought liberals to the power, and to observe their behavior regarding the affaire on the 7th July. Moreover, in the context of the constitutionalism in the first half of the 19th century, we seek to bring to light some of the practices at the Parliament in times of acute crisis, through the study of the behaviour of the legislative power facing an open attack committed by the counter-revolution
