This article tries to demonstrate, theoretically, the common origin of the procedures of sensitive representation, from words and texts to forms, something that would constitute the field of the image. A field where is located the anthropological unity of the arts (not understood as a “system”, nor metaphysically). To do so, in the article it is followed a genealogical way, rebuilding the deployment of the parallel lines of mimesis in Classical Greece. Mimesis is a philosophical category usually translated in a reductive way as “imitation”, when its proper meaning is sensitive representation or, specifically, image.
